U16 Home: Bradford 1 - Coventry 3
The Bulldogs Got Burned by the Coventry Blaze! The Bulldogs were back in action on Saturday against the Coventry Blaze. In the first period Coventry came out firing on all cylinders and were constantly putting the Bradford defence under pressure, however the boys dug deep and with some stout defending and an excellent period from Brad Cartwright in the Bradford net, the period ended goalless. The second period continued as the first ,with both teams passing the puck. The Bulldogs picked the pace up and went close on a number of occasions. The game was none stop and end to end but Ryan Kemp opened the scoring as the Bulldogs took the lead in the 20th minute. The bulldogs came close again with Kieran Brown hitting the post with a long range effort. Coventry had their chance to equalise but were denied with the period ending with the Bulldogs leading 1-0.The third period started with the Bulldogs coming out of the blocks hard and fast and dominating the puck but they just couldn’t find that much needed second goal. The Blaze were turning up the heat late in the period but the Bulldogs were always looking dangerous on the break. The last 10 minutes was closely fought and the Blaze managed to dig deep and through team work and hard graft they found that equaliser in 38th minute, both teams were fighting for every puck and both net minders were kept busy. The game looked like it was heading for a draw but Kolosnicins for Coventry had other ideas and sneaked his second of the game in the 44th minute. Bradford went after the equaliser and pulled the net minder but Mathew Maurice broke the Bulldogs hearts and stole a third in the dying seconds of the game.An exciting Game of Hockey played between two teams playing hard but fair and wanting to pass the puck. Well done to Bradford and Coventry for putting on a fabulous show.Bradford’s Man of the Match – Cameron Kushnirenko
