National Qualifiers bring more Ball Hockey success for Bulldogs!
IT was another successful weekend for our Ball Hockey teams at the National Qualifiers - our Under-10s and Under-13s both winning their events, while the Under-16s came in second.
The Under-13s were first up in the morning at Rotherham’s Bench Buddy Arena and started off in promising style when beating Sheffield Steelers 7-2.
There was a four-goal haul for Frank O’Sullivan, with Danny Harrison (2) and Charley Farr also getting on the scoresheet.
A 10-0 win over Nottingham followed, Jacob Mardell leading the way with a hat-trick, with the rest of the goals being shared around between O’Sullivan, Harrison, Kieran SMith, Charlie Barker, Sam Bain, Layden Fletcher-Robb and Leo Marsden.
The second game against the Steelers produced the same winning 7-2 scoreline, Danny Harrison in the leading role with a hat-trick, with O’Sullivan, Marsden, Farr and Smith also finding the net.
The final group game saw a comfortable 9-0 win over Nottingham, Harrion, Fletcher-Robb and O'Sullivan all bagging a pair of goals each, with Bain, Smith and Farr again finding their shooting range to great effect.
The final brought the Bulldogs up against the Steelers for a third time and it was a repeat outcome, Bradford maintaining their 100 per cent record for the day with a 10-1 win.
O’Sullivan and Harrison both grabbed hat-tricks, Marsden finished with a pair while Farr and Mardell added another to their respective tallies for the day.
The Under-10s - boosted in numbers having invited a handful of players from South Leeds Rams to join them - won their event having lost just once on the day.
A Kyle Bower hat-trick saw them open up with a 3-1 win over Sheffield before a 2-1 loss to Nottingham followed - the Bulldogs’ goal again coming from the stick of Bower.
Another Bower hat-trick and a brace from Harry Clark produced a 5-0 win in the team’s second meeting with Sheffield, while another double from Clark was enough to see them gain revenge in a 2-1 win over Nottingham to take the trophy.
In a mid-morning start, the Under-16s got off to a flier with a 10-0 win over Steelers Blue.
Frank O’Sullivan, Daragh Spawforth, Danny Harrison and Ethan Daintith all scored twice, with Jacob Mardell and Harrison Booth also getting on the scoresheet.
A hard-fought 4-2 win over Nottingham followed in which Harrison and Spawforth were on target before the first setback came in a 2-0 defeat to eventual winners, Sheffield Orange.
Last up was a clash with Ealing and although Daintith and O’Sullivan found the net, it couldn’t prevent a 3-2 defeat.
