Junior Review: Bulldogs Under-14s get Stung

GOAL-GETTERS: Nathan Mitchell (left), Charlie Farrow and Thomas Taylor all scored against Sutton Sting.

BRADFORD BULLDOGS Under-14s came away with nothing to show for their efforts after a decisive third period saw hosts Sutton Sting run out 12-6 winners.

There were plenty of highlights, still, though with Charlie Farrow bagging his first-ever hat-trick, while Thomas Taylor (2) and Nathan Mitchell also got on the scoresheet.

But the game got away from the Bulldogs after Sutton plundered seven goals in the third.

After falling behind to an Oliver Straw strike at 3.21, Taylor levelled with a short-handed strike at 5.27, only for the hosts to get back in front almost immediately when Harry Lindley fired home just 29 seconds later.

A second for Lindley made it 3-1 in the ninth minute before Farrow made it a one-goal game with his first of the game with just 43 seconds of the period remaining.

A hat-trick strike on the power play from Lindley doubled the hosts’ lead once more at 18.27 before two goals from Farrow in just 13 seconds pulled the BUlldogs level, his second coming with 24.09 on the clock.

But the prolific Lindley ensured his team went into the second intermission ahead when he grabbed his fourth to make it 5-4 with the Sting shorthanded at 27.44.

But a six-minute spell in the third period would prove the key point in the game when Sutton scored four unanswered goals, their lead doubled by Lemuel Cox at 32.30, with further markers coming from Liam Shaw and Lindley, with his fifth, to make it 9-4.

Mitchell pulled one back for the Bulldogs at 40.31 but a three-goal blitz in just 34 seconds ended any faint hopes of a comeback, Tyler Price scoring twice and Oliver Upscombe making it 12-5 at 41.49 before Taylor doubled his tally with a late consolation at 43.31.
