STRONG SHOWING: Bradford Bulldogs Under-10s finished third in last weekend’s Ball Hockey National Qualifiers in Rotherham.

BULLDOGS’ Under-10s came home third in the recent Ball Hockey UK National Qualifiers held at Rotherham’s Bench Buddy Arena.

There were a number of impressive performances throughout the day, with the Bulldogs’ youngsters just missing out on a place in the final after a semi-final defeat to Nottingham Huskies.

In the group stages, the Bulldogs got off to a flying start when they beat Nottingham 4-3 - the game most memorable for Evan Bulmer, who scored a hat-trick in his first-ever competitive game. Stevie Abdy scored the other goal, with Denis Sprogis and Jackson Livingstone picking up assists.

A 6-0 defeat to a very strong Sheffield Stingrays Blue team followed but the Bulldogs bounced back in impressive style in their next game when they beat Stingrays Maroon 4-1.

Evan Bulmer was again to the fore with two goals, with Stevie Abdy and Finley Mardell also finding the back of the net. Jackson Livingstone was king of the helpers with two assists, Stevie Abdy also picking up one.

Stevie Abdy again found the back of the net in the semi-finals against Nottingham Huskies but it couldn’t prevent a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Huskies.

LEADERS: Stevie Abdy (centre) is the Bulldogs Under-10s captain, with Finley MArdell (left) and George Clarke named as assistants.

The team’s leadership group has also been chosen for the season, with Stevie Abdy wearing the ‘C’ and his assistants being George Clarke and Finley Mardell.

  • Bulldogs Under-13s and Under-16s Ball Hockey teams will be in action at the same venue for their qualifiers on Saturday, October 28.
